2014 Good Food Awards Preserves Judge
Ann's Raspberry Farm News, 12/2013
In September, I flew out to San Francisco to judge the 2014 Good Food Awards Preserves Category. It was amazing. Over two hundred judges were gathered to judge the almost 2000 entries. The Finalists list was recently announced. As a judge, I did not enter this year. Even so, I was surprised to feel a twinge of disappointment at not being on the list. It was time for me to move over, but I just might be entering again one day! My favorites were the Plum Fennel Chutney by Blake Hill Preserves and the Plum & Star Anise Jam by Crosstown Treats. The Plum & Star Anise Jam was perfect even by my standards. I have never found a chutney that I like - and, of all of the entries the Plum Fennel Chutney was the one that I would have bought that day. I loved it! Being a five time winner of these coveted awards, I congratulate you all. I know how excited you are and the opportunities that will come your way. I can hardly wait until the winners are announced in January. My home state of Ohio has three finalists this year! Canal Junction Farmstead Cheese, Black Radish Creamery Preserves and Chocolate Latour Confections! Thank you for entering. It was an honor to taste your products!
Blessings,
Ann, Artisan Preserver
